Anthony Granata Elected Speaker of the House of Representatives
During his swearing in as the Speaker of the House, Anthony Granata promised to be a "leader to the people."
Here in the people's house I will lead with integrity... I will be leader to the people... while staying true to the principles that have guided me throughout my public life. We are sent here to take care of the people's business... and in doing so we are tasked with the responsibility of seeing the American people's will through to the very end. I will not settle for anything less. I expect that this body does the same. If every single one of us sticks to the ideas and promises that got us elected, we will be able to look our constituents in the eyes and tell them we did our best. Whatever the results may be, we must remember that this body is a stunning resemblance to our nation's culture, diversity, beliefs, morals, and values. Let us allow the system that was created to defend the honor of American society work as it may... remembering that it can only function at it's highest potential if we are steadfast in our efforts.
