Vice President Supports Keystone Pipeline

For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – Vice President Kyle Fitzgerald spoke to the press in support of the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act, sponsored by Rep. Ross Nicholson (R-VA).

“America needs an energy policy that puts our country first. This starts with finishing the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Upon completion, this pipeline will transport nearly a million barrels of oil per day from Canada to Texas and into American refineries. It will reduce our dependence on oil from the Middle East while enhancing our relationship with Canada. Most importantly, it will create jobs. During the Obama Administration, the State Department estimated that 42,000 jobs and $2 billion in wages will be created by completing the pipeline. That is an average salary of nearly $50,000 per job. All of these reasons are why the Laborers International Union supports the completion of the project. People of all political stripes support finishing the Keystone Pipeline. Now it’s time for Congress to get it to the president’s desk.”
