    Hayton join Nationalist Caucus

PLAYER NAME Republicans Democrats NAT EV BUS MR ML SJW PRO GB Change +5 +4 +3 -2 -2 -2 -2 -2 You are speaking the language of the Nationalists and the Evangelicals. Not so much with others. Business is happy at the prospect of the tax breaks and cuts that generally come with conservative policies.

Rapperbee: 15 Dollar Minimum Wage too much

PLAYER NAME Republicans Democrats NAT EV BUS MR ML SJW PRO GB Change +1 +3 +5 +2 -1 -3 -4 -2 The liberal groups want t that $15. Business, of course, is happy with stopping such a measure, as are Evangelicals and Moderate Republicans, both of whom tend to see wages as representative of work. Nationalists follow this trend, but tend to be blue collar and working in most of those minimum wage jobs, meaning it impacts them disproportionately.

    The Hill

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, USVI - Gov. Jean de Renee of the US Virgin Islands has just addressed his legislature, asking that the 14 representatives and senators making up the unicameral government of the small territory of roughly 106,000 residents consider holding a referendum to let the people of the US Virgin Islands determine their future. "We hold our destiny. From our earliest days of colonialism, we were subject to the wills of others. In 2012, the Federal government dismissed our plea; calling us ungrateful. With the backing of the United Nations and its call for self-determination for all people, I call upon each of you here today to stand and let the Virgin Islands take a hold of its own destiny. No longer shall we allow ourselves to be subject to the neglectful whims of a government that does not even give us the right to vote for our leader or have a voice in Congress. I call upon our legislature to stand for up for each and every Virgin Islander and vote for a referendum." The speech was greeted with cheers from members of the governor's Independent Citizens Movement party, who hold a majority for the first time since the 1980s. This speech comes in the wake of several months of the governor's criticism of both major US parties and the lack of attention being paid to his territory. This also comes amid turmoil in the Office of Consular Affairs within the Department of the Interior who has been catching ever-increasing heat over the past few years from the territories and countries within the Compact of Free Nations, increased calls from the territories for the right to participate in the Electoral College, and an affirmative vote in British Parliament to grant their territories voting membership in its body. The other members of the territory's legislative body were not as enthused, pointing out the potential economic and diplomatic complications related with changing its relationship or even leaving the United States. The US Virgin Islands seems to be trotting a road traveled only once before, but this time with international law on their side.
